Tonight I went to see the movie, “The Theory of Everything“.  If you don’t know what it’s about, it’s the life story of Stephen Hawking.

Seeing this tonight reminded me of a thought I had this weekend while riding mountain bikes in Loma.  It was my first time on the mountain bike since October?  Long enough that I don’t remember the actual date.  I was on a borrowed bike, which was almost brand new.  A bike my good friend and roommate allowed me to use from his shop.  The trails were amazing.  The weather was amazing.  I was riding with good friends.  After the ride I had a beer and then topped off the day with a trip to Chipotle.

During my ride I stopped to take a few pictures of the Colorado as it was looking quite beautiful and clean at this time of year.  I looked at the surrounding desert and thought about my up coming thru-hike of the CDT.  This reminded me that when I get done with the hike my new mtb will be waiting for me.

So many positive things and people surround me.  I wonder some times why this is.  A certain friend would say it’s because I have the biggest and most giving and caring heart she knows.  I give credit for that to my folks, for raising me to be the way I am.  Whatever the reason seeing a moving like “The Theory of Everything” really makes you take stock of how lucky you are.  I’m reminded I can ride a bike, ski, walk, never mind Mexico to Canada but simply walk.  I can hug, talk, type and express myself easily.  All simple things that are so easy to take for granted.

I appreciate times like on my ride and the movie tonight that remind me to be grateful of what and who I do have.
