Hiking

Hiking is one of The Project’s two main focuses. It’s our mission to supply the best resources, guides, gear lists, and more to help others pursue and explore their passions. The following breaks down The Project’s main hiking categories.

You’ll also find numerous detailed links to our resources, which will facilitate the planning and execution of your next trip, learn important technics and tips to help your adventure be the best it can. Keep reading to learn more.

Guides

The NEHH is a journey through some of New Englands best areas. Unlike the NH48, the NEHH offers hikers a chance to explore peaks much less travel. You’ll follow heard paths and forget trails through dense forests to find peaks off the beaten path.

The Pemi Loop is one of New Englands must popular and assessable loops. It offers everything from low easy hiking to high above tree line views. Besides the amazing view, what makes the Pemi Loop so great is one can tackle it so many ways.

IF I HIKED… SERIES

The “If I Hiked…” series is an in depth look at what I would bring for gear, if I hiked any of the trails I have already done again. I also explore the why of those decisions and give insight to how I would approach the trail in general. The goal is to help others with their own selection process. Hopefully showing what I learned will assist in this process.

Gear Lists

No two people carry the same exact gear. With this in mind The Project always encourages others to know what works for them. Our gear lists define our goal and give “Pros and Cons”, “What Worked and Didn’t Work”, and “What We’d Do Next Time” sections to possibly help others with their own gear list.

Resources

The Project created the following resources by distilling down our experience and knowledge gained during our many adventures. We regularly add new ones as the list of our own hikes grow. It’s our hope that these resources will motivate others to get out on the trails and hike more.

JOURNALS

Here at The Project we love keeping journals of our numerous hikes and adventures. The result is hours of reading and hopefully entertainment. If you’re curious to know what life is like on a certain trail, or simply want to get inside the head of a long distance hiker, here’s your chance. Find my journals for the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and more.

DATA COLLAGES

Our “Data Collages” are just a fun and simple visual snapshot of each trail. They include the most commonly asked about information and are visually pleasing to the eye. They’re a way to get a quick overview of a trail. Share the images with friends or family to educate them about your up coming hike or use them to motivate yourself to do one of them.
