Our intended loop was to start at Salmon La Sac, ride the road east to FS4305, work our way up to the Sasse Mtn Trail #1340, then ride the ridge to Trail 1307 the Jolly Mtn. Trail which would drop us back down at Salmon La Sac.

Region: Snoqualmie Pass — Salmon La Sac/Teanaway

Getting there:
From Seattle,
Take I-90 east to Exit 80 towards (Roslyn/Salmon La Sac).  At the end of the off ramp take a left to head north on Bullfrog Rd. At the 2nd roundabout take the 2nd road to head northwest on Rt. 903 towards Roslyn.  Follow Rt. 903 north through Roslyn and Ronald, following Rt. 903 and signs pointing towards the Salmon La Sac campground another ~12 miles. Watch your speed!

I could tell you more but the reality is no one in their right mind would do this ride.  If you really want to contact me through the site and I’ll give you the details.

Current Conditions:

The trail conditions are bone dry and there a lot of blown downs.  A good portion of the blow downs we encountered were on Trail #1325, where we saw 18 in 1.1 miles.  This trail is open to motorcycle use despite the signs on the trail saying “no motorcycles”.  We did not encounter any motorcycles but I wish I was on one myself.  There is no water on the Sasse Mtn. Trail what so ever.

What to expect:

HELL!!!  I do NOT recommend this as a trail one should mountain bike.  It is extremely steep, both up and down, blown out, filled with loose rock and sand and has plenty of sketchy off cambers.  This trail is best left to hikers and motorcycles.

I almost completely worn off the front toe cleats off my Sidi shoes because I had to push my bike so much.  Of the 6 or so miles of the Sasse Mtn. Trail we did I would say we hiked about half of it.  We actually bailed out since it was taking so long.  There was beer to drink and a bachelor party to attended to back at the campground.

If you had to do it I would go from West to East; bring plenty of water and food, and have good hike-a-bike shoes.
