I didn’t go to sleep until almost 11:30 pm. Then I couldn’t sleep. I woke up at 5 and was still very tired. The plan was to meet at 6:30 to car pool to the trail. It was Lot, Toast, Otter and myself. Otter was going south.

We were headed into what everyone calls the Roller Coaster. The next two sections are very up and down. To say the least my calves and quads got a work out today.

On the way to the trail I walked a dirt road. I saw a group of horses and there must have been at least 6-8 babies. They were so stinking cute and full of energy. I would have loved to stay and just watch them but I had miles to hike.

We would hike mostly together for the day. We passed Will from the UK, Shimmy who was 11.4 miles from completing his CDT hike, Fun Size and a kid named Jason. All were going south.

We got rained on three times and hailed on twice. It’s raining now for the fourth time. We’re on a ridge so it’s windy as shit too. Just typing this is making my hands cold. My tent should be step up 180 degrees. Hopefully it calms down soon.

I hit the 2000 mile mark today! Under 800 to go and only 32 days!
