Jill’s phone was off an hour so instead of going off at 3:15 it went off at 2:15 am. She was planning on bagging one of the few 14ers she had left. As it turned out her friend Kevin got a flat and without a spare they decided venturing into the backcountry wasn’t a great idea. So the whole phone mishap was for nothing. They ended up driving back to Durango around 4:15.
The rest of the day I slept in till 8:20, got breakfast, found Rafiki and another hiker, CT Barbie doing the the CT and her friend Charlie, had lunch, walked to the outfitter, hung out more, had dinner followed by more hanging out.
Another thrilling zero day on the CDT. Tomorrow I will hit the 1400 mile mark. This means half way! I’m also entering the San Juans.
