Tired. Shitty day walking pavement. Not to bitch but it was shitty. Not much to tell. Long hitches, hot sun, 3 mile error, rain and sub par water.

All that said Rabbit Ears Pass is beautiful and the views were amazing. Lots of meadows filled with flowers. The clouds were nice to look at until they opened up on us. They even threw some hail at us.

It’s already 10 pm so that’s it.

Another great view near Rabbit Ears Pass

So as you can see three days in and around Steamboat and I had had enough.  My attitude and Rafiki’s was crap by this point.  I think we were both over all the road (paved and dirt) walking.  From the time we left Chama all we had hiked was roads.  We were both ready for “real” hiking on single track in the woods.

Maybe we should have known it was going to be a tough day when the sprinklers at Moots turned on before the sun was up and blasted out tents.  Rafiki had his door open and it sprayed inside before he could close his tent.  It was comical but not how we wanted to wake up.
