I ate breakfast with a beaver today! I had an assortment of hand selected cookies while my friend had himself a bushel of freshly cut willow. There was a chill in the air but neither of us minded. We just enjoyed each other’s company over a delicious meal.
I knew I had a long day ahead of me so I was flying for the first half of the day. I made it to Old Faithful before 12 pm. 20 miles in under 4 hours!
Even with all my speed I didn’t have the time I wanted to explore the geysers. I spent most of my 3 hours there at the PO, backcountry office or eating. None were exciting. Town stops are increasingly getting less exciting and less rest is being found.
I have a small rash on my left arm. I’m hoping it’s a bite as it’s been covered by my arm warmer for days. It’s very itchy. I’m also pretty tired. After Old Faithful I had 10 more hot miles of hiking and 3/4’s was uphill. My clothes really started to stink today. I’ve decided 4 days is the point where they start to really get grimy.
After setting up camp I went for a swim in the lake. It was wonderful. My first swim of the trip. I went naked…
Tonight it’s me and three southbounders: Axel, Last Chance and Second Chance.
