The rain stopped during the night so my tent was mostly dry in the am. It didn’t make it any easier to get up.

The day started easy. I saw G, Funk, Chimichanga, Chilton, and Rafiki in the first mile. Seth now named Pop caught me and together we climbed Mt. Elbert. Genny who is now Son took the official trail and had some alone time.

The climb was tough. 3k feet of vert in 3 miles. We made it up in just under 2 hours, with one stop. The descent involved two glissade soft the fun of it. Soon we won’t be able to as the snow is melting fast. It was steep as hell going down, just like the up.

On the way down we passed a group of young teens with some young adults. The kids packs were insanely huge. These kids will never go in the woods again! They were suffering. It was as if they were punishing them.

Once down we hung at the general store until Justin and Brianna showed up from home. During that time I jumped in the lake, had soft serve ice cream, 2 sodas and a Gatorade.

Pop, Son, Justin, Brianna and I all camped down the road. The mosquitoes were terrible. Kim a lady who told us about the camp spot came by and the went and got us wood to help with the bugs. She was great to chat with. She stayed a while before having to go.
